The Shimano TLD-50 2-Speed game reel is built tough and has been at the forefront of game fishing in NZ for many years. As a value for money set, it is often the rod and reel of choice for anglers starting off in their game fishing journey due to the affordability over other higher end reels like the Shimano Tiagra and Shimano Talica series. The two speed gear ratios make it much easier to fight fish for longer, and dropping down to the low ratio enables you to move those larger fish who have dogged down in the fight, while still making it manageable for the angler. The 5'6'' Shimano Backbone rod is rated to 24kg and is manufactured from a tough TC3 high modulus graphite blank. The rod also features a roller tip which is designed to reduce any line wear while under load from a prolonged fight. The Shimano graphite reel seat and graphite gimbal knock & harness lugs enables full locking in a gimbal belt/harness situation.
