With that transducer max depth 500ft @ 200khz

When turned on first time it asks what Transducer it has connected and a big list to choose from. What do I choose or leave it as 'unknown' ?

Choose Splitshot Skimmer Transducer as your option, cheers!

Will I need to purchase a transducer extension lead as well? This unit will be for a 17 footer.

Not usually, the Splitshot Skimmer Transducer's cable length is 6m so should be more than adequate for a 17 footer. Cheers!
