The Baitrunner D Series has a water-proof drag system, Vari-Speed oscillation, cold-forged aluminium spool, lightweight yet strong graphite body with metallic black finish, Power Roller III, Super Stopper II, Dyna-Balance and propulsion line management system so that your reel can cope with the increasing popularity of using such reels with braided super lines such as Power Pro.

- Vari-Speed... uses an oval oscillation gear so that that line does not stack at either end of the spool, but is spread evenly.
- Aero Wrap II... is a worm gear oscillation system with a specially designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds for the Propulsion Spool Lip design. It provides uniform line lay and winding shape to prevent loss of energy during the cast.
- Super Stopper II... uses a one-way, stainless steel roller bearing that eliminates backplay. This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power.
- Power Roller... is an oversized line roller that reduces twist from casting and retrieving and is enhanced with a tapered area on the support to help line get onto the roller quicker.
- Alloy Cold Forged Spool... provides increased strength and durability over diecast aluminium or graphite spools.
- 10 Year Warranty... on all Shimano fishing reels, against defects in materials and/or faulty workmanship.
